Microporous pipe aeration has the following advantages:

The bubble stream from bottom aeration covers a wide area: at 2 m depth the misted bubbles can diffuse over 3-4 m; one underwater aeration disc 1.2 m in diameter produces a vortex bubble flow covering an effective aeration area of 35 m2;
8. Energy saving. Because the oxygen transfer efficiency of the microporous aeration system is very high, dissolved oxygen quickly reaches about 4.5 mg/L, at less than a quarter of the energy of a paddle-wheel or impeller aerator. Taking a 10-mu pond at 1.5-2 m depth as an example: reaching 10 kg O2/h of aeration capacity needs only 1.5 kW, while an impeller aerator needs 6-9 kW. At 200 aeration days and 8 hours per day, this saves tens of thousands of kWh and more than 5,000 yuan in running costs;
9. Restores the water's self-purification function. Microporous aeration oxygenates the bottom, while other methods oxygenate only the surface - and farming water bodies are generally oxygen-rich at the surface and oxygen-poor at the bottom. The sediment, organic waste and spoiled leftover feed on the bottom consume large amounts of oxygen; with sufficient microporous aeration these are converted into organics that micro-organisms can decompose, restoring self-purification. Measured results: after 3 hours of running, total ammonia nitrogen in the pond fell from 6 mg/L to 2 mg/L, nitrite from 8 mg/L to 2.5 mg/L, and hydrogen sulphide to almost zero;
10. Fewer diseases, higher yield. Microporous aeration oxygenates the bottom, keeping the whole water body well oxygenated, increasing the activity of the stock in every water layer, improving appetite, shortening the production cycle and allowing higher biomass loading. For vannamei shrimp with underwater aeration, stocking density can reach 80,000-100,000 fry per mu with yields around 1,000 kg.
