Selecting the right air source is very important in a pneumatic conveying system. Some systems use air compressors on site, others use roots blowers. Both were originally chosen as the air source for their own strengths, but they have different merits. Pneumatic conveying can be divided into dilute-phase conveying and dense-phase high-pressure conveying. As a rule, a roots blower is used for low pressure and an air compressor for high pressure.

Why a roots blower beats an air compressor for dilute-phase conveying
Choosing the air source correctly lets you complete much more work. In normal use, conveying powder with an air compressor wastes energy: you have to consider pressure and flow, so the equipment not only fails to achieve energy-saving operation but also needs an unreasonable amount of supporting labor, and it takes up a large floor area. Electric or diesel engines drive the compressor through a V-belt, changing the crankshaft structure and rotation direction to make the piston reciprocate. Although an air compressor can run for low-pressure conveying, it may not finish the expected conveying output well.
